“Before I Kick the Bucket” is a friendly competition featuring pairs of friends from the Drury community. Based off of the Newly Dead Game by Gail Rubin, event participants will reveal what they really know about one another — in life and death.
The Newly-Dead Game emphasizes the importance of planning for your end of life. It’s critical to have conversation with friends and family about your wishes and theirs. According to a Pew Research study, 90% of the people surveyed said that talking with their loved ones about end-of-life care is important, yet only 27% have actually done so.
We can change this statistic.
On Tuesday, March 20, we are inviting Drury students to participate in a game that sparks conversations about death and end-of-life wishes. It’s easy to guess our best friend’s favorite song or place to dine, but we may have no idea if our friend would choose to die at home if faced with a life-threatening illness. “Before I Kick the Bucket” will bring awareness to advance healthcare planning and provide you tools to start your own conversation.
$250 in prizes will be given away to attendees and participants. Attendees will have the chance to win gifts cards from Amazon, Target, and more!
So, grab a tray from the Commons and enjoy dinner during the game in the FSC Ballroom on Tuesday, March 20. The event begins at 6 p.m.!
