The BucketList+1 campaign is joining forces with the OCH Health System to encourage OCH employees to document their end-of-life wishes by completing an advance directive. BucketList+1 reminds individuals that planning for life goals should also involve planning for life’s end.
Starting in March 2019, the campaign will roll out at each of the 16 OCH clinics in Southwest Missouri and Northwest Arkansas. Initial campaign conversations will focus on one thing that inspires each of us — our bucket lists! Conversations will then transition to topics related to the choices we may face at the end-of-life.
Each OCH employee will receive a BucketList+1 planning packet that includes an advance directive and helpful information about the four steps to advance planning: talk, learn, plan and notarize.
Activities to take place at each clinic include Death Over Donuts (casual conversations about death and dying), Before I Kick the Bucket (the sharing of bucket list dreams via notes on bulletin boards) and Decisions Day, an opportunity for staff to sign and notarize their advance directives.
To celebrate the choice to complete an advance directive, employees who notarize their document will be entered into a drawing to win a beautiful Pushing Up Daisies arrangement (one per clinic).
Employees are invited to post a selfie with the campaign magnet on their fridge or holding the bright orange #MyDeathMyPlan packet. Posts should include the hashtag #MyDeathMyPlan. One winner will be selected for a prize in April at the conclusion of the campaign. Additionally, the clinic with the highest percentage of “signers” on Decisions Day will win a prize and the top honor of knowing that staff “Donut Fear the Reaper.”
